Miniature Mikoshi Portable Shrine
What are the things that pop up in your head when you think of Japan?Hi-tech
products, anime or cars? They certainly do represent a part of Japanese
culture, but something that should not be forgotten in talking about Japanese
culture is matsuri(festival). Matsuri, to put it simply, is a festive occasion
that is usually sponsored and run by shrines and temples.(and their parishioner).
Most typical Matsuri involves traditional dance, mikoshi (portable shrine)
and dashi (floats) parades, with food stalls, entertainment, and carnival
games to keep people entertained. Unfortunately real mikoshi and dashi
are too expensive to offer them here at JUN. However, a great substitute
is available for your room.
