Japanese Wooden Sandals (Geta)
Geta sandals are outdoor footwear consisting of a
thong attached to a wooden platform with two crosswise supports (or any wooden
sandals with separate heels). Their origin dating back to Yayoi period (300 B.C.
- 300 A.D), geta are still worn in Japan today with summer kimono called yukata.
Some men wear geta (GET2) with modern clothing like jeans but that's very
unusual. Zori sandals, on the other hand, have flat soles and are often made
made of material other than wood such as straw, igusa, leather and
vinyl.
